Budgeting expert Martin Lewis has urged holidaymakers to book their car hire early to get the best deals, menmedia.co.uk reports.
Lewis, who founded and runs the Money Saving Expert website, has made himself a household name with his money tips that regularly save households money on everything from driving to energy bills.
Now, Lewis has turned his attention to holidays and how Britons can save themselves some money when booking their break; allowing for more spending money while they're away. Amongst the tips outlined by Lewis was booking car hire as soon as possible.
"Book car hire early and it can be under £10 a day," he told cheapcarinsurance2.com. "Don't leave it till you land."
Lewis also suggests reading through the fine print of a policy to ensure the driver knows what they are getting before any money changes hands. This way, he explained, the sometimes treacherous waters of insurance and excesses can be covered early on so both parties are aware of the deal.
Elsewhere, Lewis urged holidaymakers to consider airport parking early, to be aware of prices. With airports often charging premiums for long-term parking options, Lewis encouraged travellers to thoroughly research the options available to ensure the best option is gone for and the best deal done.
"Like comedy, good holiday money-saving is about timing," Lewis added. "The key to minimum cost and maximum holiday enjoyment is pre-planning."
